What is the function of the glomerulus?

The glomerulus is a part of the Malphigian body in which blood enters through the renal artery (afferent arteriole) and the substance that needs to be excreted along with water diffuses into the bowman's capsule. 
It carries out the function of ULTRAFILTRATION.
