Equation given:  [tex]S = 16t^2[/tex]

  • S: distance fallen  --> 1279 ft
  • t: time taken for the distance fallen

Solve:

   [tex]S = 16t^2\\1279=16t^2\\t^2 = 79.93\\t=8.9[/tex]

Thus it took 8 seconds for the thing to fall from the top

Hope that helps!
