Distribute the 5 outside the parentheses into the parentheses.
5(x+2)=8x+20
5x+10=8x+20
Bring x to one side, other numbers to another
5x+10=8x+20
-8x -8x
-10 -10
-3x=10
divide by -3
x=-10/3
approximately -3.33333333
