take the 4 and 30/60 which is equal to 4.5 or 4 1/2 and add 1 1/4. make the 1/2 a common denominator by multiplying the top and bottom by 2 to give you 2/4. add the 4 2/4 to the 1 1/4 to give you the final answer of 5 3/4
