2(4a-12)+3a=6a

Multiply the bracket by 2

(2)(4a)=8a

(2)(-12)=24

8a-24+3a=6a

8a+3a-24=6a ( combine like terms)

11a-24=6a

Move 11a to the other side. Sign changes from +11a to -11a.

11a-11a-24=6a-11a

-24=6a-11a

-24=-5a

Divide both sides by -5

-24/-5=-5a/-5

Answer: a=24/5 or a= 4 4/5 or in decimal x=4.8
